How to install
We are shipping the public Chrome Web Store listing soon. Until then, install from a release ZIP in three steps.
- Download the latest release. Grab the extension zip from your account dashboard or from the install email after sign-up.
- Open Chrome's extensions page. Navigate to chrome://extensions and toggle Developer mode (top-right).
- Load unpacked. Click Load unpacked and pick the unzipped extension folder. The Magic Capture popup is now in your toolbar.
What the extension needs access to
- Tab, window, or screen capture. Standard Chrome capture APIs, you pick the source every time.
- Optional microphone. Only when you turn the mic toggle on.
- The current tab's URL and title. Saved alongside the recording metadata for your reference.
The extension never reads page content, never injects scripts into pages you visit, never tracks browsing history.
First-run checklist
- Sign in to VideCap from the extension popup. The popup opens a tab to authorize.
- Grant microphone and (optional) camera permission when Chrome asks.
- Pick your capture source (tab / window / entire screen) and record.
- Stop recording. The agent does the rest while the editor opens.
